Frozen Russ

In the winter of 1990, one of the brothers purchased a new Nissan pickup truck. The brother graciously offered to take Russ and one other brother to Reno for an inaugural trip to celebrate his new vehicle.

The three adventurers set out with great joy and anticipation upon their journey. While the brother’s new vehicle was a wonderful development, it soon became apparent that the Japanese designers did not take into account the size of two fairly large men and a Russ. Though packed in, the excited travelers continued their expedition to Reno.

Arriving several hours later, the brothers gambled, drank, ate and had joyous celebrations all the night long. As is his usual custom, Russ lost every cent he carried and began pestering his brothers for a loan. Being used to this pattern of behavior from Russ, the brothers lent him some more money and they continued their fun through the next morning.

After Russ had lost all of the money that the brothers had loaned him, he became increasingly more drunken and belligerent. Soon, he was begging to go visit a local strip club that they had passed on the way to the casino. After a few hours of his incessant whining the now fairly exhausted brothers relented and agreed to take Russ where he so annoyingly begged to go.

The three disheveled travelers arrived at the strip club and before going in, reminded Russ that he was broke and drinks were very expensive in this establishment. Russ deviously assured the brothers that all he needed was one drink and few dollar bills to strategically place upon the poor innocent strippers in the hopes of persuading one to like him.

They entered the establishment and like all strip clubs it was dimly lit, smoky and expensive. Russ ran up to the stage and joyfully began harassing and ogling the dancers as the two brothers sipped their $10 drinks at a table in the back. Embarrassed by their Russ and his actions the brothers decided to leave as soon as Russ went broke for the third time.

As they waited, an off-duty dancer who was completely nude came up to their table and asked them how they were doing. Though slightly awkward at first, the conversation began to pick up when the girl realized that these men were of high moral character and upstanding individuals. She and the brothers laughed and talked for a few minutes and all was well.

It was at that moment that Russ came over to the table. As Russ approached the table and observed the naked female seated with the brothers his eye sockets bulged and he began to creepingly leer at the nice girl and make everyone at the table very uncomfortable.

At this point the brothers excused themselves from the table and told Russ that they were leaving. Russ vehemently protested this development and asked the stripper to help him make his case. The surprised girl courteously told Russ that she would remain out of the argument and needed to get back to work. Somehow Russ took this statement to mean that the dancer loved him eternally.

As the brothers left the building and walked across the parking lot, Russ stumbled out after them and informed them that he was staying at the strip club and then going home with the naked dancer when she ended her shift that day. The patient brothers tried to convince Russ otherwise but failed in their efforts. Finally, they agreed to leave him there but told him that they would be back to get him in a few hours. Russ rudely admonished them and told them that he would marry the stripper and that the brothers would see that she was the true love of his life.

Shaking their heads, the brothers left and went back to the casino. Several hours later, they drove back to the strip club. As they expected, a dejected and forlorn Russ sat outside the building. The brothers graciously offered Russ a ride back home which he grudgingly accepted.

Since he was dirty, grimy and smelling pretty bad at that point, it was decided that since the weather (in Reno) was fairly warm that Russ would ride in the back of the truck. Russ crawled in and the tired trio of travelers started the long journey home.

About an hour outside Reno, the brothers heard a tapping at the back window. Russ was trying to communicate but frankly, the brothers had heard enough of his whining and sniveling and were grateful they didn’t have to endure more on the way home. So they smiled and waved at Russ and continued their journey.

As the temperature dropped in the mountains, Russ curled up into a fetal position for warmth and tried to survive. Meanwhile, the unsuspecting brothers looked back to check on Russ and assumed he had passed out due to ingesting al of that alcohol. So they continued their trek through the icy mountains. Several times, on a sharp curve they would hear and feel the thump of a rolling Russ body in the truck bed but they forged ahead knowing that home was only another hour or so away…

Arriving at his house the brother who was driving got out and immediately noticed something strange when he checked on the still comatose Russ. His normally paste white skin was now a strange shade of blue. It appeared that Russ had been flash frozen!

Fortunately, there were several caring females in the house that upon hearing that Russ needed resuscitation, went outside to his frozen body and began to rub it vigorously. Thanks to their heroic efforts, within a few minutes Russ began to breathe and exhibit signs of life. Later, after he had fully regained consciousness Russ was quite pleased to discover that he had been rubbed back to life by the caring females…
